Diary Event

The 58th West End Trophy took place on Saturday, 6th July, marking a significant day for Ian Mair, who decided late in the week to participate one last time in the event and, in doing so, became one of the oldest winner of the event.

Harry Wright, who was in the first group out, set an early clubhouse lead with a nett 70 in the first round, despite a challenging 10 on the 7th hole. He followed this up with a nett 65 in the second round, playing off a handicap of 8. Harry maintained his lead on the leaderboard with a combined score of 135, holding a 3-stroke advantage over his nearest competitor, Brian Duffy, who finished with a score of 138.

However, Ian Mair, one of the later starters, had other plans. With two consistent rounds of nett 66, playing off a handicap of 18, Ian managed to surpass Harry Wright, finishing 3 shots ahead and nudging Harry into 2nd place. If this was Ian's last time he would be playing in the West End Trophy he certainly marked it with style, but knowing the competitive side of Ian we may just see him try to successfully defend the time in 2025.

The West End Trophy marks the end of the series of Open competitions held over the week. there are still a number of Open events to enjoy, including the Ladies Quad Am, Mixed Quad Am, and the Autumn Texas Scramble.

On behalf of everyone at Halifax West End, we would like to thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to welcoming you in the not-too-distant future.
