As Rabbits’ Captain for 2019/20, I would like to welcome you to the Rabbits’ section of West End Golf Club. Our aim is to encourage golfers of all abilities to enjoy playing golf at West End and provide the opportunity to play with golfers of a similar standard at other clubs in the area in friendly competition.
Rabbit golfers are encouraged to play in as many of the Rabbit events as possible and we also run a number of social events to which members and their families are invited.

Friendly matches against other clubs provide the opportunity to play free golf at many local clubs on both a competitive and friendly basis. if you are interested in playing in these events please enter on the sheets on the Rabbits Notice Board.

The League matches are arranged by the Halifax, Huddersfield & District Rabbits Golf Association (HHDRGA). The League team consists of two pairs of players, with one low handicapper and one high handicapper in each pairing.
Each match is played both home and away, followed by a meal, paid for by the Rabbit section. If interested, please see Notice Board.

There are also individual competitions within the HHDRGA & the Yorkshire Rabbits Golf Association (YRGA) in which I would encourage you to play; details of these events will be posted on the Rabbits noticeboard in the clubhouse as they become available in the year.

There are four internal Rabbit competitions running throughout spring and summer:
The Knock Out, Buck Rabbit, Chinchilla, and Golden Rabbit.
Entry is via the computer in the Professionals shop

Winners of these competitions are presented with their prizes at the Rabbits’ Annual Dinner.
Other competitions include the Rabbits’ Open (Sunday 28th April), the Rabbits’ Prize Day (3rd August) and the Rabbits’ Away Day (Wakefield Golf Club, 15th August).
Details of all these events will be posted on the Rabbits notice board and website throughout the summer.

I will be publishing a monthly report on the website to keep you up to date with all Rabbit Events
and issues.

Please feel free to talk to me, any Rabbit committee member, or Darren in the Pro shop if you
would like to know more about the Rabbits’ Section and how to get involved.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all an enjoyable years’ golf in 2019!

Captain's Newsletter

Captain's Newsletter - March 2019

March has now come to an end, thus closing our playing and financial year. The last competition was played on Sunday 31st March this being the rearranged Whiskey Trail

The winners were:-

Club Captain Les Carman, Graham Thornton and Nick Hulme with 76pts

As a section we have had a very successful year, which has allowed us to donate two projects to the club, these being:-

1. Upgrading of the planter on the first tee

2. The provision of 5 new laminated benches which are now located around the course.

This is the final report for this year. Please frequently visit the Rabbits’ website or check our notice board to receive up-to-date news of events.
We have many opportunities to enter a
variety of events and competitions and I urge you all to join in as many of these throughout the year as you can.

The annual Captains’ Drive-In takes place this Sunday and I hope as
many of you as possible will support our in-coming captains, either by taking part in the competition or joining us afterwards for the prize giving. Apparently, the weather is expected to be good!

Thank you for the support you have shown to me and the Rabbits section throughout the year and I wish you all a fantastic year of golf in 2019, where handicaps come tumbling down.
