Captain's Welcome

2018 / 19

I would like to offer a warm welcome to members, visitors and guests – old and new – to Halifax West End Golf Club. It is an honour and privilege to be Captain of this well regarded Golf Club for 2018/19.

This coming Autumn, our Club will be 112 years old; and whilst it is right and proper to value and maintain the standards associated with a golf club of such long standing, I feel it is also incumbent upon the Club, to accept positive, progressive change, thereby providing an increasingly comfortable and welcoming atmosphere for members and visitors alike.

We continue to offer a wide range of membership types to encourage the widest possible participation on the course. Most recently the Club has introduced memberships focused on those new to golf; key to ensuring its' long term success.

For visitors to West End Golf Club you will find a fair and yet testing course with what we believe the best maintained greens in the area.

Our staff work hard to ensure both members and visitors get the most from the course and from the clubhouse offering. I look forward to working with them.

We at Halifax West End Golf Club will work hard to make your visit a memorable one, a visit which we are confident you will be recommending to your golfing colleagues and friends.

My chosen charities for the year are Yorkshire Air Ambulance and The Maurice Jagger Centre, for the elderly and disabled of Calderdale. Please look out for one of the many opportunities to contribute to these deserving causes; thank you for your anticipated generosity.

I would like to offer my support to the Captains of the Club’s other Sections, so to Rachel Gledhill; Ladies, Graham Gower; Rabbits and Nick Crane; Juniors, I hope you have a rewarding and fun year.

Finally, I wish you good health and a fine year of golf.

Where appropriate, I undertake to share those thoughts with Council and to provide you with a written response as necessary.

Please check the dates and times of these sessions. During the advertised times I will be in the clubhouse - I look forward to seeing you.
