Lady Captain

2020-21

I became Lady Captain whilst stranded in Spain during their lockdown and only returned home on 23rd April. Sadly I am unable to meet up with members but I do hope to be able to play a round of golf with as many ladies as possible and get to know members I have yet to meet very soon.I have chosen the Yorkshire Children’s Trust as my charity, they are a Halifax based group who provide support for children and their families who have a long term illness. They help with travel grants, counselling therapies and respite breaks.

It is my wish that the men’s section join us in some fun mixed competitions plus the Pink Ribbon Day and my Captains Day, however this is dependent on competitive golf being allowed to go ahead.

Finally I would like to wish Derrick all the best for the coming season and I look forward to working with him and Michael once life returns to normal.

Ladies Winter Programme

2020

It is proposed that on alternate Tuesdays 11 hole Stableford competitions take place.  Due to all the restrictions there will not be a roll up but we are attempting a draw.  Ladies are asked to inform Lady Captain by the Sunday before the competition you wish to attend.  She then emails names to Darren who will do the draw and booking on Monday.  Please state if you wish to be in the morning or afternoon draw.   The entry fee will be £1.  The entrance fee and score cards are to be put in a box on the bureau and the results will be posted by Friday on a spreadsheet which will be placed on the notice board.

The winner of each competition receives 3 points, the runner up will receive 2 points  and the other ladies 1 point for turning up/encouragement.  On 8 December at the Festive Gathering the overall winners will receive their prizes.

The alternate Tuesdays will be fun games.  The formats are given below.

13 October              Trouble (individual)

This is a game in which the winner at the end of the round is the player (or team) that has collected the fewest number of points – not number of strokes.  That’s because points are “awarded” for bad shots:

Water ball – 1 point                            Hitting from 1 bunker to another – 2 points

In the trees – 1 point                           Playing the wrong fairway – 2 points

In a bunker - 1 point                           Out of bounds – 2 points

3 putt – 2 point                                    Air shot – 2 points

Loosing your ball – 5 points               Forgetting/loosing your mat – 4 points

Remember - low points win the game

20 October              Stableford

27 October               Hallowe'en  Tri-Am  Stableford (team of 3 players)

All 3 shots are to count on Par 3s, 2 shots to count on Par 4s and 1 shot to count on Par 5s.

Lady Captain has arranged to book the Ladies a slot on the booking sheet from 11.00 am to 1 pm so that Lifestyle Ladies can be on winter times.  She has also arranged for the chef to have pumpkin soup, pie and peas and parkin on the menu.

3 November            Stableford

10 November          Halifax Huddersfield & District Golf Alliance Competition

17 November          Stableford

24 November          Reverse Waltz (Team of 3)

All 3 scores to count on holes 1, 4, 7 and 10.  Two scores to count on holes 2, 5, 8 and 11.  One score 1 score to count on holes 3, 6 and 9.

1 December             Stableford

8 December             Festive Gathering + 3 clubs and a putter (individual)

Lady Captain has arranged to book the Ladies a slot on the booking sheet from 11.00 am to 1 pm.  She has also arranged for the chef to have turkey sandwiches and mince pies on the menu.

In the past Ladies normally brought a prize worth up to £5 for this competition.  Because of corona virus Lady Captain would appreciate it if Ladies would bring their prizes the week before.  She also requests that Ladies would refrain from touching the prizes on the prize table.
