Yesterday we issued a note from England Golf on how the rules regarding Covid-19 applied to Calderdale and therefore West End Golf Club.

Since then the Prime Minister has expanded on the rules with the key element being that legally, we can now only provide table service for all drinks and or food.

As a result, anyone in the bar area must be seated at all times, which will massively impact on our capacity, given we have already had to restrict seating to one person per table unless they are two metres apart or living in the same household/bubble.

England Golf have also asked us, and I quote, “to take steps to encourage people from different households to not socialise together”!!!

From today the process we need to adopt therefore will have to change as follows:
• All visitors must either use the NHS QR code displayed, or, sign in by providing their name, address and contact number. If anyone refuses to provide these details they cannot be served. This is a legal requirement, not a house rule.
• Everyone must wear a face mask at all times throughout all areas of the Club House unless eating or drinking. This also applies to staff.
• On entering the bar/dining area, Members and visitors must, first of all, find a spare table to sit at. Only chairs can be used as the bench seating has had to be closed.
• Once seated a member of staff will take their orders and bring these back to the table. More than one drink may be ordered at any time
• No-one must approach the bar at any time and additional drinks/food should be ordered from their indoor table or the outside area.
• If there are no tables available then Members will either have to wait until a suitable table becomes vacant or use the outside areas as at present. Food and drink must be ordered from the table, whether inside the Club House or outdoors. Orders will not be taken at the bar and Members must not approach the bar.

We realise these are major changes and not ones that any of us want. Initially, there may be teething problems in ensuring that people are served as quickly as they would like but we ask that everyone is understanding and patient and that they show respect to all staff who have a difficult role to fulfil.

As a Club, we have a legal responsibility, at all times, to protect our Members, Staff and Visitors, but equally, we all have an individual responsibility to ensure that we strictly follow Government regulations at all times.

I am sorry to be the bearer of more bad news but I hope you can all understand and accept why these steps, which are completely out of our control, need to be imposed.
