As Rabbits’ Captain for 2018/19, I would like to welcome you to the Rabbits’ section of West End Golf Club.
Our aim is to encourage golfers of all abilities to enjoy playing golf at West End, and provide the opportunity to play with golfers of a similar standard at other clubs in the area in friendly competition. Rabbit golfers are encouraged to play in as many of the Rabbit events as possible and we also run a number of social events to which members and their families are invited.

Friendly matches against other clubs provide the opportunity to play free golf at many local clubs on both a competitive and friendly basis; this year the clubs to be visited are Crow Nest, Ryburn, Longley Park, Outlane, Woodsome Hall, Bradley Hall and Lightcliffe, if you are interested in playing in these events please enter on the sheets on the Rabbits Notice Board.

The League matches are arranged by the Halifax, Huddersfield & District Rabbits Golf Association (HHDRGA). This year we play Dewsbury, Todmorden, Lightcliffe and Castlefields Golf Clubs. The League team consists of two pairs of players, with one low handicapper and one high handicapper in each pairing. Each match is played both home and away, followed by a meal, paid for by the Rabbit section. If interested, please contact Brian Cooper.

There are also individual competitions within the HHDRGA & the Yorkshire Rabbits Golf Association (YRGA) in which I would encourage you to play; details of these events will be posted on the Rabbits notice board in the club house as they become available in the year.
There are four internal Rabbit competitions running throughout spring and summer: The Knock Out, Buck Rabbit, Chinchilla, and Golden Rabbit. Entry is via the computer in the Professionals shop Winners of these competitions are presented with their prizes at the Rabbits’ Annual Dinner. Other competitions include the Rabbits’ Open (Sunday 29th April), the Rabbit Captain’s Prize Day (4th August) and the Rabbits’ Away Day (Otley Golf Club, 17th August). Details of all these events will be posted on the Rabbits notice board and website throughout the summer.I will be publishing a monthly report on the website to keep you up to date with all Rabbit Events and issues.

Please feel free to talk to myself, any Rabbit committee member, or Darren in the Pro shop if you would like to know more about the Rabbits’ Section and how to get involved.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all an enjoyable years’ golf in 2018!

Captain's Newsletter - August 2018

The month of August saw the end of the heatwave and we returned slowly to our normal weather pattern of sun and showers, this helped the course and the fairways returned to their normal condition.

The month has been busy for the Rabbits Section with two of the years' main events taking place these being the Rabbits Prize Day and the Rabbits Away Day at Otley Golf club.

The day was a complete success both organisationally and financially, 133 competitors took part and 40 members attended the Presentation Dinner. Thanks are given to Richard Taylorson for donating an original landscape for auction and Paul Wilson (D.Taylorson son in law) for sponsoring the event.
